UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.
The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's location, lever and key hole dimensions. Refer to the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be put in on doors that are new or replacement. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A lever that is shorter is a good choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with the spindle and screws which allow them to be installed on any new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is usually a benefit when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when they are not being used.
When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are usually round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the building. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is crucial. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can improve security, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is crucial that it is not too long.
Most newer cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.
There are cylinders made to resist snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is smashed using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than gaining access through multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a burglary, which can hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after using. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple part is the most effective way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung, they will not fit unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a hole specifically cut in the backplate to allow them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They feature a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
